Horn-Loaded Clarity in Poplar Burl.
The Odeon Orfeo is a high-end German bookshelf speaker from Odeon Audio, a company known for its handcrafted horn speakers. The Orfeo is Odeon’s entry-level model and its only standmount design, yet it brings the brand’s signature horn sound to small and medium-sized rooms. This pre-owned pair is in excellent condition and comes in the premium poplar burl finish, the most expensive option Odeon offers.
At its heart is a birch plywood horn that boosts the output of the tweeter without needing more amplifier power. The result is an efficient speaker with exceptional clarity, detail and depth that still sounds relaxed and easy to listen to. It is an ideal match for tube amplifiers and lower-powered amps.
Design & Engineering
The Orfeo pairs a 28 mm soft-dome tweeter in its birch plywood horn with a custom 170 mm mid/bass driver, crossing over at 2.2 kHz. The mid/bass cone is cellulose-coated and suspended on a flexible, long-lasting rubber surround for punchy, controlled bass. Inside, the hand-built crossover uses premium Mundorf components and pure OFC shielded internal wiring, each part chosen for performance and lifespan.
