The XLO Type 5 is a speaker cable from XLO's Reference series, the line that launched the American cable company XLO Electric in 1991. XLO was founded in California by Roger Skoff, one of the best-known figures in high-end audio cable design. His goal was absolute neutrality: a cable that passes the signal from amplifier to speaker without adding or taking anything away. The Reference series quickly earned XLO a strong following among audiophiles and reviewers.
Design & Engineering
XLO's Reference cables are known for using very high-purity copper conductors, Teflon insulation and XLO's proprietary "Field-Balanced" construction. That construction is designed to cancel out the interaction between conductors, which can smear timing and detail. The aim is a clean, open, uncoloured sound, so your amplifier and speakers are heard as they really are, with clear detail, tight bass and stable imaging. At 2.0 metres, it's a practical length for most systems, with the amplifier placed between the speakers.
