First unveiled at the Munich High End Show in May 2018, the Metronome AQWO marked a major milestone as the brand’s first SACD player. True to Métronome’s design philosophy, the AQWO is engineered to preserve an unmistakably analog sound character, whether playing discs or converting digital signals to analog. With a comprehensive range of digital inputs and outputs, it integrates seamlessly into complex systems, while the large 6.5" touchscreen offers clear, intuitive control from across the room.
Since 1987, Métronome has designed and handcrafted high-end digital sources with two guiding principles: extracting the very best sound digital and analog technologies can offer, and presenting that performance within a pure, elegant design. Every product is developed to reproduce music with all its original nuance and emotional depth, remaining faithful to the recorded signal rather than reshaping it. The AQWO embodies this philosophy, balancing technical sophistication with refined, purposeful aesthetics.
At its core, the AQWO features a top-loading SACD/CD transport based on a professional-grade mechanism enhanced with Métronome’s proprietary refinements. It reads both CDs and SACDs with exceptional accuracy, revealing fine detail and musical depth. The internal high-end D/A converter employs dual AK4497 chips and supports native DSD processing up to DSD x8 (512 kHz), delivering outstanding precision alongside the rich, natural sonic signature for which Métronome is known.
