The Benz Micro Glider L2 is a hand-built Swiss moving coil cartridge, and one of the most popular ways into true high-end analogue sound. A low-output member of Benz Micro's celebrated Glider family, the L2 is loved for a sound that is smooth, liquid and free of grain, with the transparency, extension and open staging you'd expect from far costlier cartridges. It's an ideal upgrade for anyone ready to move from a moving magnet to the refinement of a quality moving coil.

Design & Engineering
The Glider's defining feature is its open-body design. Instead of enclosing the generator in a sealed housing, Benz Micro leaves it exposed and mounts it on a rigid frame. This removes the body resonances that can colour the midrange, so voices and instruments sound noticeably more open, natural and lifelike. Every Glider is assembled by hand in Switzerland, where Benz Micro has built a reputation for precision and consistency over decades. As a low-output moving coil design, the L2 has a very light moving mass. That gives it excellent tracking, fine detail retrieval and a fast, dynamic presentation. It's best partnered with a quality MC phono stage or step-up transformer, and it works beautifully in medium-mass tonearms such as the Rega range.
