ProAc Tablette Reference 8 Loudspeakers
The ProAc Tablette Reference 8 is a British two-way bookshelf speaker from ProAc's Tablette range, a mini-monitor series that has been in continuous production since the company was founded in 1979. The original Tablette earned its reputation as a compact audiophile monitor that could stand alongside the classic BBC LS3/5a. Over the years the Tablette grew larger to deliver deeper bass and greater power handling, and the Reference 8, introduced in the early 2000s, marked a deliberate return to the original compact dimensions. It suits small rooms, desktop and nearfield listening, and anyone after a high-end standmount speaker with a small footprint.
Design & EngineeringThe Tablette Reference 8 uses a compact two-way design with a 4.5" doped-cone mid/bass driver and a 1" silk dome tweeter. The crossover is built from high-quality components on a dedicated circuit board and wired throughout with multistrand oxygen-free (OFC) cable. It is split to support both bi-wiring and bi-amping, and connections are made via five-way binding posts. For the best results, ProAc recommends placing the speakers on stable, heavy stands, away from the rear wall and toed in toward the listening position, with the listener's ears at or slightly below tweeter height. A break-in period of at least one week of continuous playback is recommended before critical listening.
Technical SpecificationsThe Tablette Reference 8 is a 2-way standmount speaker with a stated frequency response of 38Hz–30kHz (no tolerance specified), sensitivity of 86dB, and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms. Recommended amplifier power is 10–100 watts at 8 ohms, and it supports bi-wiring and bi-amping via five-way binding posts. It measures roughly 15 x 27 x 23cm (6" x 10.5" x 9").
